Western Fence Co.

Fence Installation in Altadena and Across Los Angeles County Since 1967

Western Fence Co. has worked out of the same Altadena shop since 1967. We build new fences and gates for homeowners, businesses, builders, and cities. That means privacy fences in Pasadena backyards, chain link around industrial yards in the greater Los Angeles area, and ornamental iron at the end of long driveways.

Our estimating team comes out, looks at the property, and tells you what the job takes.

What We Build

Fencing Services

Most people calling a fence company already know what they need the fence to do: give them privacy, replace an old fence, keep the dog in, or enclose the pool. The harder question is which of the fencing options fits the property and the budget. Here is how the main fencing materials compare.

Wood Fencing

In many cases, wood is more competitive to install than vinyl or iron, and it gives you the most room to create a custom design. We build it for privacy along a back property line where neighbors sit close, and as decorative fencing out front. The tradeoff is maintenance. Wood needs attention every few years to keep holding up.

Iron Fencing

Ornamental iron keeps a property secure while leaving the view open. It works along front yards, around commercial frontage, and at estate gate entrances. It costs more than wood or chain link, and it lasts well with basic care.

Vinyl Fencing

Vinyl is made from polyvinyl compounds and installed in heights from three to six feet. We use stainless steel fasteners, so the hardware won't rust out ahead of the panels. It comes in several colors and styles, with post cap options to match the house. Vinyl costs more up front than wood, and after that it needs very little maintenance.

Chain Link Fencing

Chain link can be an economical way to fence a large perimeter. Galvanized is the standard. Vinyl-coated costs a bit more, blends better with landscaping, and comes in color. If you add windscreen or privacy link through the mesh, you get real screening without the price of a solid fence. We install chain link around pet runs, playgrounds, tennis courts, batting cages, and industrial yards.

Hand Rails

Hand rails are part of our ironwork. We install them along front steps, porches, entries, and ramps on homes and commercial buildings. The estimator looks at the run, what the rail mounts to, and how it should tie into the steps or walls.

Gates

A gate takes more wear than any other part of a fence. Our gate installation services cover walk gates, automatic driveway gates, and estate entrances in wood, vinyl, chain link, and iron, each built to match the fence it sits in. Pool enclosure gates have their own code requirements, and we plan for those from the start of the gate project.

Quality materials matter most at the parts that fail first: posts, hinges, latches, and fasteners. If you want something we don’t stock, we’ll order it.

Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Fencing

For homeowners, the reasons are usually practical. They want privacy from a neighbor’s second story, a way to keep kids and pets in the yard, or protection from coyotes on properties up against the foothills. Sometimes the old fence is leaning, rotting, or falling down and just needs replacement.

Commercial fencing involves a different set of decisions. Height, gauge, gate hardware, and access all depend on what you need to protect and who needs to get in and out. Our commercial customers include builders, developers, property managers, and industrial owners, and we have done a significant amount of work for cities in the region. The same crew can handle a backyard on Monday and a construction site perimeter on Thursday.

The Process

How Fence Installation Works With Us

1

You call or request an estimate, and one of our two estimators comes out to the property. They measure the run and check grade, soil, and access. They also note whether an old fence has to come out before we start installing. Then you get a written estimate. It costs nothing.

2

Once you sign off, we schedule the job and build it.

3

There’s no sales pitch in between. You get what the job needs and what it costs.

Since 1967

Why Western Fence Co.

We’ve been fencing the San Gabriel Valley since 1967, from the same Altadena location for more than 55 years. We are family owned and locally owned.

For decades, most of our work has come from customers who referred us and from people who saw our trucks on job sites, and that’s something we take pride in. That happens when you stay in one place long enough to be judged by your own work. Plenty of ours are still standing around the neighborhood.

We keep things straightforward. You get a clear estimate, a knowledgeable read on the site, and an honest answer when a cheaper material will do the job.

Fence Contractor in Altadena, CA and the San Gabriel Valley

Western Fence Company serves residents and businesses throughout greater Los Angeles County, including Altadena, Pasadena, Arcadia, and the rest of the San Gabriel Valley. That covers foothill lots with sloped yards, older neighborhoods with fences due for replacement, and commercial and industrial property along the valley floor. If you’re not sure whether you’re in our area, call and ask. The answer is usually yes.

Common Questions

It comes down to material, linear footage, terrain, and whether there is an old fence to remove; all materials vary in price based off style, height, gauge, etc. The only way to get a real number is to measure the property, so our estimators come out and do that for free.

Vinyl and chain link ask the least of you. Iron holds up well with occasional care. Wood gives you the most design freedom for the cost, but it needs regular upkeep to stay durable. If you’re unsure, the estimator can talk through durability and budget for your specific site.

Yes, we do all of the above. Reach out to make sure your project is a fit.

Yes. Replacing an old or failing fence is one of the most common jobs we do. The estimator factors removal into the estimate, so you see the full cost up front.

It depends on what the fence has to do. Galvanized or vinyl-coated chain link is the most common choice for industrial yards, equipment storage, and construction site perimeters, because it covers long runs economically. Windscreen or privacy link can be added where you need to screen the site. Ornamental iron suits storefronts, office frontage, and multifamily properties where the fence is part of how the building presents. The estimator will walk the property with you and look at height, gate locations, and who needs access before recommending a material.
